In anticipation of the kickoff for the PWHL launch on January 1st, each day I will highlight a PWHL personality.
Villard-de-Lans, France, is known for being a ski town. It’s also famous for being hockey sensation Chloe Aurard’s home. Raised in a hockey-centric environment, Chloe was immersed in the sport from an early age, with both her parents having previously played and her siblings playing throughout childhood.
At just fourteen, she made her mark by joining the France national team, participating in four WJC-18s and four Women’s Worlds tournaments before embarking on her college journey.
At sixteen, Chloe moved to the U.S., enrolling at Vermont Academy alongside her twin sister, Anais, despite not knowing the English language. Finding familiarity in VA’s vibe akin to her hometown, she felt comforted. During her time there, she showcased her athleticism, excelling in hockey, soccer, softball, and tennis.
College life landed her at Northeastern University, where she studied media arts and communications. She’s now actively engaged in this field, creating videos for various sports teams. In the remarkable 2019-20 season, she notched an impressive five points in two Beanpot games, earning the prestigious title of tournament MVP and securing the championship. Her accolades are numerous, culminating in her graduation from Northeastern with an outstanding total of 204 points in 106 games, including a school record of fourteen shorthanded goals. Throughout her college years, she continued to represent France, competing in an additional five international tournaments.
Can’t wait to watch this penalty-kill threat bring some spice to the Big Apple!
