In anticipation of the kickoff for the PWHL launch on January 1st, each day I will highlight a PWHL personality.
Mariah Keopple, originally from Menomonie, Wisconsin, found her way into hockey due to her brother Remington’s love for the sport. Wanting a friend on the ice, she joined him, delving into boys’ hockey since there were no opportunities for girls. To pursue their dreams, her family relocated to Maplewood, Minnesota for Mariah and her brother to attend Hill-Murray School.
When Mariah was a sophomore in high school, she began pursuing another one of her passions: fashion. She was hired by Royalty Sports Performance, where she continues to thrive.
She ventured to the East Coast for college, studying at Princeton University. The Tigers made it to the National Tournament during her freshman year, narrowly losing to Minnesota. The following year, she celebrated victory as the team clinched the ECAC Championship. However, her junior year faced interruptions due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, in her senior year, the team got the unique opportunity to showcase their talent at the Smashville Women’s Collegiate Hockey Showcase. The good news of the league came at perfect timing as now she can join her first professional team.
Can’t wait to watch this stylish fashionista take the ice for Montreal!
